Open Call For Artists in Ghana
Creative Action Institute is calling three (3) contemporary visual and performing artists from Ghana to collaborate in their work at the intersection of creativity and social change. We build the capacity of leaders and organizations for innovation, collaboration and resilience to advance conservation, health and human rights globally.
This project is part of our Creative Leadership Training Series in Ghana and the work implemented for the past three years with 14 conservation organizations around the country.
About the community art project:
Visual artists and performing artists will collaborate with conservation organizations and environmental leaders from different regions of Ghana. This is an opportunity for collaborative work that interacts with communities. The art projects would support dialogue and diverse views in order to create a deeper understanding of themes such as climate change, pollution, water access, and wildlife and plant species conservation, among others, and support locally driven solutions.
Project period and time commitment: approximately 10 days between September and December 2019
Eligible applicants:
- Visual and performing artists with a strong and committed career in Ghana.
- Artists who are able to produce results in collaboration with Creative Action Institute methodologies.
- Artists who are able to communicate and interact with local people in community events.
- Communication: The artists must have the ability to clearly facilitate, communicate concepts, both visually, verbally and through clearly written materials.
- Performance: The artists should demonstrate a good professional history of being able to work cooperatively and accomplish projects on time.
- Must have access to high-speed internet to participate in interviews, webinar style trainings and skype calls with Field Project Managers.
- Must be able to travel within Ghana, including to more remote locations.

Artist Selection Process:
- Selected artists will be invited to a first interview via Skype in September to share more about their work and expectations.
- Three finalist will be selected and officially announced by 30 of September, 2019
Selected artists will receive:
- A stipend to the artist will be provided.
- Art supplies and travel will be covered by Creative Action Institute
- An opportunity to get training on community art projects and a certificate of participation from Creative Action Institute
- Exposure of the artwork you produce via Creative Action Institute’s social media platforms
